Today marks 7 months since our family lost our cousin Gordon Gault to knife crime. Gordon was only 14 years of age and had his whole life in front of him. How can this possibly happen to a carefree young man out cycling with his friend.

Gordon was a huge fan of Bruno Guimarães who plays for Newcastle United and so much so, that he named his English Bulldog puppy after him.

His mum Dionne heads a campaign on social media named Justice For Gordon. I ask you to take a look and if possible lend your support.

This takes me on to last month, when Gordon’s mum Dionne and my immediate family were privileged to be VIP guests at RIO Steakhouse on Newcastle Quayside. This fantastic evening that Dionne attended was all down to Howard, Rodrigo and Sarah.  I can’t sing their praises enough.

Now we need a drum roll…………. special guest was Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães, who attended along with his dad Dick Gomez. Bruno was aware of Dionne and when he met her, said “Dionne, Dionne”.

You may well be familiar with Bruno’s dad as he’s a regular spectator at St James’ Park, adding his support to the Magpies – “he’s got a taxi you know”! 🤣 I need to give a shoutout to Sarah Pike, the marketing director who orchestrated such a perfect evening. Sarah made Dionne feel so special and spent time speaking with her.

A few months earlier, RIO held a fundraising event in aid of the Great North Children’s Hospital and raised a whopping £10,370. Gordon actually spent time in the ICU at Newcastle Royal Victoria Hospital, where he was cared for and made as comfortable as possible.

The team at RIO did a sterling job looking after everyone and the food was incredible. I had a spectacular view of the Sage which sits on the banks of the River Tyne. I would recommend anyone from outside of the region to visit Newcastle upon Tyne.

JCT600 Newcastle Ferrari showcased a stunning Ferrari 296 GTB and Roma outside RIO.

It was also great to see Geoff Moore (the MD of West Nautical) attend too.
